Event Description
In America, it seems like new technology comes out every few months. Americans own about three billion electronic products and are continually purchasing new ones to upgrade their technology. This creates an environmental waste problem. The Design for Energy and the Environment discusses this problem.
The Design for Energy and the Environment is hosted by the Sustainable Electronics Initiative and the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (SEI/ISTC). The SEI/ISTC is a unit of the Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
The SEI/ISTC is encouraging submissions of green presentations, poster displays, papers, and panel discussions. Academic and industry practitioners are encouraged to submit abstracts of their latest projects, design thinking, and research for publications or presentations.
This green event will be held at the I-Hotel on the UIUC campus on February 23-24, 2010.
The following groups of people should attend the Design for Energy and the Environment: electronics manufacturers, refurbishers, remanufacturers, chemists, designers, non-profit organization, electronics recyclers, materials scientists, electrical engineers, policy makers, government representatives, pollution prevention technical assistance providers, and others.
The green event should address topics including life cycle analysis, product design, environmental toxicology, existing and proposed policy, and more.
Green Nature
The Design for Energy and the Environment will host green presentations, papers, poster displays, and panel discussions about green topics. These topics include the waste problem that occurs when people endlessly purchase new products.
Additional Information
People wishing to present a paper, panel discussion, poster display, or presentation should goto the website and complete the appropriate form.
Perhaps people should not purchase new technology just because they can especially when the electronic equipment they currently have work just fine. Attend this green event and share your thoughts!
