Green Business Directory Guidelines

All business submissions are screened and must adhere to the following set of guidelines. Businesses that do not adhere to the guidelines will not be approved.

General Business Guidelines

The following is not an extensive list of policies. We reserve the right to decline a business for any reason. Please use common sense when submitting businesses to our green directory. Thanks for taking time to read this information.

1. Does your business qualify as a green business?

All businesses that are accepted into our directory follow green practices, pursue green focuses, or have some sort of green mission. A lot of our businesses also offer green products that are offered as fair trade.

2. All business information must be in English.

Even though our website is a world-wide website, we only allow English on our website. Most of our traffic comes from English speaking regions and we want to make it easy for people to access information.

Business Website Guidelines

While we do not require businesses to provide a website URL, those that do must adhere to the following guidelines.

1. Is your business website 100% complete?

All business websites must be totally complete before they are added to our directory. We do not want our green traffic to visit websites under construction. This is one reason our return visitor rate is high relative to other directories.

2. Does your website load in a reasonable time?

Websites that are not reachable will not display on our website until the problem is resolved. Our green traffic does not like to visit dead links.

3. Does your website host viruses, trojans, crackers, or other exploits?

Any self-replicating code that is planted illegally on a website is not allowed to be part of our green directory. We want our green traffic to feel safe and secure when visiting a link from our website.

4. Does your website spam users with advertisements or collect personal information about the user?

Any website whose sole purpose is to collect email addresses, telephone numbers, or other personal information is not allowed. We protect our green traffic from getting spammed when visiting a link from our website.

5. Does your website host pornographic material or gambling information?

We do not allow websites that contain inappropriate content such as porn or gambling. Our traffic comes here to learn about going green or to find green businesses - not to look at inappropriate photos.

Other Information

Businesses that create a premium or standard business that do not get accepted into the directory will have their money returned minus any transaction fees.

Businesses that do not meet the guidelines will receive email notification and a chance to meet the guidelines. If the business does not wish to meet the guidelines, the above policy applies.

Once a business is accepted into the directory, we will periodically check the business to make sure it still meets these guidelines.

Businesses that fail to meet the guidelines after being accepted into the directory will receive email notification. If the business fails to correct any violations within two weeks of notification, the business will forfeit their listing and be deleted from the website. Business owners are responsible for making sure they keep their email address up-to-date.

As this website grows, we will tweak and ammend the guidelines as we see best fit so please check back here for an updated list of guidelines.
